With a concentration in litigation, Magistrate Nemer graduated with distinction from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2007. She first served as a student attorney at the Washtenaw County Public Defender’s Office in Michigan before joining the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office in Ohio. In 2008, Magistrate Nemer joined McGinty, Hilow & Spellacy Co. LPA, where she concentrated on criminal and immigration law. While there, she managed a general practice of criminal defense, immigration, small claims, and eviction matters.
After working in private practice for almost 7 years, Magistrate Nemer made the switch to the nonprofit sector. She served as the Immigration Senior Attorney at Catholic Charities, serving individuals living in the 8-county diocese. Working for one of the largest nonprofit entities in the region, Magistrate Nemer collaborated with several local service providers to ensure the safety of our community.
Currently, she is a magistrate for the Akron Municipal Court where she presides over cases involving small claims, traffic, criminal, and civil matters. She manages large caseloads and makes fair, accurate and impartial decisions that impact individuals, families and neighborhoods.
Magistrate Nemer is a wife and mother of 3 children. As a first-generation child of immigrants, she worked with her family and learned to use common sense approaches to creating and running businesses. She is proud of her roots and values the lessons she learned not just in law school, but throughout her life.

Why I am running
I am running for judge because I care about one of the biggest issues facing our community: the drug epidemic. The municipal court system is critical to this battle. It is often the individual’s initial appearance before a municipal court judge which can lead him, or her, to become a repeat offender.
My experiences, as well as my willingness to work with others and implement innovative ideas, make me the right choice for Stow Municipal Court Judge. You deserve an experienced candidate who will work hard to provide solutions for a safer community. Together, we can make that happen.
I hope to earn your vote this November to become your next Stow Municipal Court Judge.
